Where were you when the world stopped turning?

Have you heard that Alan Jackson song? If not, YouTube it. It's pretty powerful.

So, where were you when the world stopped turning?

I remember my upstairs neighbour calling me to tell me to turn on the TV. And then I watched, in horror, for HOURS as the whole thing unfolded.

I remember calling my DH and telling him and then having him telling me that it had to be a small plane that had flown of course because there must have been something wrong with the pilot. He was SURE there was no way anyone would deliberately fly into the WTC. Then the second plane hit...

I remember watching (because you just couldn't stop) as another plane hit the pentagon and while still a fourth crashed into the ground.

I remember sitting with my mouth hanging open as the WTC towers collapsed.

I remember not realizing that I was crying and somehow being unable to stop.

I remember the quiet eeriness outside in the days following as there were NO planes flying overhead.

I remember...and I will NEVER forget.

I was at work. I didn't tag along with my coworkers when they went in search of a TV to watch the coverage. They ended up at a pub down the street from our office building. Looking back, I was sooooo fortunate not to have seen all the live coverage of the horror. :S
